Barrow Mass Balance Data Download

This page contains forms to download data from the Barrow Mass Balance Site from the 2013 ice season to the current day. Raw MBS data can be downloaded, as well as the processed data. The processing of the data is outlined below. Snow pinger 1 is located above the upward-looking underwater sounder.

Highlight the raw sensor data you would like to download, check a box for the format, and fill in the date range of interest. Multiple sensors can be selected by holding Control (PC) or Command (Mac). In order to get data from the whole length of the thermistor string, all 30 thermistor options must be selected.

Raw Sensor Data

Since the snow pingers and underwater sounders only record the distance from the sensor to the ice, snow, or sea floor surface, the distances must be processed to reflect snow depth, ice thickness, or water depth. Processed air temperature is the hourly running mean of air temperature measurments.

Highlight the processed sensor data you would like to download, check a box for the format, and fill in the date range of interest. Raw data from other sensors are included in this form so you only need to download one file to get a complete data set with processed data.
